Ravensthorpe and Pitsford Review

Ravensthorpe and Pitsford Review

SKB Fishbums team member, Bob Aves, takes a look at the early season fishing on Ravensthorpe and Pitsford so far this season.

Both Pitsford and Ravensthorpe have suffered with coloured water after the heavy rain, but both clearing well.

Ravensthorpe is fishing well toflies with black and green on intermediate fly lines. Monday saw 20+ fish to anglers on the wheely boat. The odd fish have been caught on buzzers and these will become a more important fly as the season progresses. Big fish are coming out with a 15lb 8oz and a fair few over 10lb being caught. Clearing water and warmer weather will see buzzers, dial bachs and damsels working well.

Pitsford is clearing well after the heavy rain. Duffers up to the cliffs is fishing well with Gorse and Bog Bay always producing fish. Stone barn and gravelsare a bit slow. Sailing club and brixworth bay will produce later. Early season black and green flies always work well with pea and cats whiskers being highly productive. Damsels , wriggle worm and diawl bachs always worth a try. Buzzers in the next few weeks will catch lots of good fish.
